Transcript

In this tutorial you will run an ideas board in Jetonomy that your members vote on. You need the free Jetonomy plugin, and at least one category. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Create an Ideas space. Check that voting is on. Share and vote as a member. Give ideas a status. Then open the Roadmap. Step one. In your WordPress admin, open Jetonomy, then Spaces, and click Add New. Type a title. Set Type to Ideas. Leave Visibility on Public and Join Policy on Open, so members can vote without waiting. Then scroll to the bottom and click Create Space. Step two. Edit the space and open its Settings tab. Allow Voting is ticked by default. If you untick it, the vote buttons disappear from every idea in this space. Step three. Now see it as a member. Members click Share an Idea to post one. Each idea has a vote count, with an arrow to vote it up and one to vote it down. A member cannot vote on their own idea. Popular sorts the list by votes, so you see what people want most. Step four. Give ideas a status. A moderator or admin of the space opens an idea, and sees four buttons under its title: Planned, In Progress, Shipped and Declined. A member, like the one signed in here, does not see them. A status can be switched later, but not cleared. Each click saves at once. A coloured label appears beside the title, which is what members see here. The author of the idea is notified. Step five. Check that it worked. Click the Roadmap tab, next to Ideas. The board has four columns: Planned, In Progress, Shipped and Declined. Each lists its ideas from most votes to fewest. Here, Shipped and Declined are empty until an idea is given that status. Ideas with no status stay off the board. That is all five. An Ideas space created, voting checked, ideas shared and voted on, a status given, and the Roadmap opened. Your members can now tell you what to build next. Next in this series: Set who can read and post.
