In this tutorial you will learn how trust levels work in Jetonomy, and what each one unlocks. You need the free Jetonomy plugin, and an administrator account. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Open the trust level thresholds. See what each level unlocks. Check the limits on new members. Set a level by hand. Then see reputation as a member. Step one. In your WordPress admin, open Jetonomy, then Settings, then the Permissions tab. This table holds the three levels a member earns automatically: Member, Regular and Trusted. Everyone starts below them at level zero, Newcomer. Two more levels sit above them, and step four shows those. Each row sets the topics, days active, reputation and replies received a member needs. They must meet every number. Jetonomy checks twice a day. Step two. See what a level unlocks. The last column lists it. Level one lifts the daily limits on new accounts. Level two skips the CAPTCHA, when one is turned on. Level three, with a role that allows it, is needed to edit, delete, move, close or pin other people's content. Levels four and five, Leader and Veteran, are ranks only. A trust level never makes someone a moderator. That comes from the Moderate capability in this grid, or a moderator role in a space. Step three. Check the limits on new members. By default a level zero account can make three topics, ten replies and five votes a day. Change the numbers to suit your community. Level one and above have no daily limit. Step four. Set a level by hand. Open Users. The Trust Level column shows where each member stands. Point at a member and click Change Trust Level. A list of all six levels opens, with a Save button beside it. Pick a level, and click Save. Levels four and five, Leader and Veteran, can only be given this way. Step five. Now see it as a member. Reputation helps move a member up, and they can watch it on the Leaderboard. It grows with upvotes and accepted answers, and drops when a post is reported or removed. That is all five. The thresholds opened, what each level unlocks, the limits on new members, a level set by hand, and reputation seen as a member. You now know what a trust level does, and what it does not. Next in this series: Restrict a space to members.
