In this tutorial you will restrict a Jetonomy space, so only the members you choose can get in. You need the free Jetonomy plugin, and an administrator account. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Lock the space first. Open the Access Rules tab. Choose who gets in. Choose what they can do. Then see the lock as a member. Step one. Lock the space first. In your WordPress admin, open Jetonomy, then Spaces, and click Edit under the space. Set Visibility to Private. Set Join Policy to Invite Only, so nobody can join by themselves. These two settings are what keep people out. Then click Update Space. Step two. Open the Access Rules tab of the same space. A rule lets more people in. Who else gets in is set by visibility and join policy. That is why the space was locked in step one. Step three. Choose who gets in. Open the first list in the row with the Add Rule button. Everyone, Logged In, WP Role, Capability and Trust Level are built in. Membership plugins are listed after them. MemberPress and Paid Memberships Pro work with free Jetonomy. The rest, like Learnomy and BuddyNext Pro Tier on this site, need Jetonomy Pro. Here, pick WP Role, and type the role in the box beside it. Editor, for example. Step four. Choose what they can do. The next list has three choices: Read, Participate and Full. Participate is chosen for you. It lets them read, post, reply, vote and report. A rule can never make someone a moderator. The line under the form reads your rule back in plain words. Check it, then click Add Rule. The rule is then listed under Access Rules, below the form, and you can remove it there at any time. This list is still empty, because no rule has been added. Step five. Now see it as a member who does not match any rule. Alex opens the space and gets a lock, not the topics. This space still asks for approval, so he can send a request. With Invite Only, there is no request box. A member who matches a rule gets straight in. That is all five. The space locked, the Access Rules tab opened, who gets in chosen, what they can do chosen, and the lock seen as a member. Your space now opens only for the people you named. Next in this series: Change a space's settings.
