In this tutorial you will create a space in Jetonomy and choose its type. You need the free Jetonomy plugin, and at least one category to put the space in. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Open Spaces. Start a new space. Choose one of the four types. Set who can see and join. Then see the types as a member. Step one. In your WordPress admin, open Jetonomy, then Spaces. A space is one discussion area. The Type column shows what kind each one is. Step two. Click Add New, and type a title. The slug fills in by itself. Add a short description, then pick a Category. A space with no category is listed under Other Spaces on the community home. Step three. Choose the Type. There are four. Forum is the default, for open discussion with threaded replies. Q and A is for questions. The person who asked can accept one reply as the answer. Ideas is for feature requests. Members vote, and each idea can carry a status on a roadmap. Feed is for short updates, where a title is optional. Step four. Set who can see the space and how people join. Visibility is Public, Private or Hidden. Join Policy is Open, Requires Approval or Invite Only. Left alone, a new space is Public and Open. Then click Create Space. The space is live straight away. Step five. Now see it as a member. On the community home, every space card shows its type. Open a Q and A space. It has an Ask a Question button, and each topic is marked Answered or Needs answer. The type shapes the whole space. That is all five. Spaces opened, a new space started, one of four types chosen, visibility and join policy set, and the types seen as a member. Your space now behaves the way its discussions need. Next in this series: Organise spaces with categories.
