How to add a login form to a page in Jetonomy, step by step: see the login card Jetonomy puts in the community sidebar, use its Register and Forgot password forms, add the Jetonomy Login block to any page, allow new sign-ups in WordPress, and see what a signed-in member gets instead.
In this tutorial you will add a Jetonomy login form to a page, so visitors sign in without leaving your community. You need the free Jetonomy plugin, and an administrator account. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. See the login card. Register or reset a password. Add the Jetonomy Login block. Allow new sign-ups. Then see it as a member. Step one. See the login card. Open your community without signing in. Jetonomy puts a card called Join the conversation at the top of the sidebar. A visitor types a username or email and a password here, and stays on the page they were reading. Step two. Register or reset a password. The card has two tabs. Click Register, and it asks for a username, an email and a password. Back on Log in, the Forgot password link swaps the form for one field. Jetonomy emails a reset link if an account matches. Step three. Add the Jetonomy Login block. The same card can go on any other page. In your WordPress admin, open a page in the editor and click the Block Inserter, the plus button at the top left. Search for Jetonomy Login, and click it in the results. The block has two settings in the sidebar. A title of your own, and a switch called Show register tab. Then click Save, at the top right. This tutorial leaves the page as it was. Step four. Allow new sign-ups. The Register tab only shows when WordPress allows registration. Open Settings, then General, and find Membership. With Anyone can register ticked, visitors get the Register tab. Untick it, and the card only offers Log in. Step five. See it as a member. Now sign in as a member and open the community. The login card is gone. In its place the sidebar greets the member by name, with links to their profile, notifications and spaces. On other pages, the Login block says who is signed in. That is all five. The login card seen, the Register and reset forms, the Jetonomy Login block added to a page, sign-ups allowed, and the member view. Visitors can now join your community from the page they are on. Next in this series: See what visitors see first.
