In this tutorial you will see the welcome banner that Jetonomy shows to visitors, and set the name it uses. You need the free Jetonomy plugin, and an administrator account. It takes about two minutes. There are five steps. Open the community signed out. Read the live numbers. Find the two buttons. Set the name in the heading. Then see it as a member. Step one. Open the community signed out. A visitor who is not signed in sees a welcome banner above the spaces. The heading is Welcome to, followed by your community title. Under it, one sentence says what an account is for. Step two. Read the live numbers. The banner counts your members and your topics, and how many topics were posted this week. Jetonomy works these out from your own community and refreshes them every hour. The weekly number is left out when it is zero. Step three. Find the two buttons. Create free account opens the registration page of your site. Log in opens the login page, and brings the visitor back to the community home afterwards. Step four. Set the name in the heading. In your WordPress admin, open Jetonomy, then Settings. On the General tab, find Community Title. Type the name of your community. It becomes the main heading of the community home, and the name in the welcome banner. The sentence under the heading has no setting. A developer can replace both lines with a filter. Then click Save Settings, at the bottom of the page. Step five. See it as a member. Now sign in as a member and open the community. The banner is gone. Only visitors see it. Members get one line instead. It tells them to open a space to read, or to start a discussion. That is all five. The community opened signed out, the live numbers read, the two buttons found, the name in the heading set, and the member view. You now know what a new visitor meets first. Next in this series: Tell roles, trust levels and space roles apart.
