Transcript

In this tutorial you will send members an email digest in Jetonomy. You need Jetonomy Pro, with its Email Digest extension turned on, and a site that can send email. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Turn on Email Digest. Choose the default frequency. Set the sender. Preview the digest. Then check who gets it. Step one. Turn on Email Digest. In your WordPress admin, open Jetonomy, then Extensions, and find the card called Email Digest. Before you turn the switch on, know this. Digests start enabled, and set to weekly. It is on already here, so this tutorial does not click it. The first digest does not go out at once. The daily one waits a day, and the weekly one a week, from the moment you turn the switch on. Step two. Choose the default frequency. Open Jetonomy, then Settings, and click Email Digest, under Advanced. Enable Digests is the main switch. Untick it and no digest is sent to anyone. Default Frequency has three choices: Daily, Weekly, and None, opt-in only. The note under it says who gets it: every account that has not chosen its own frequency, existing accounts included. Empty digests are never sent. Step three. Set the sender. From Name is the name members see on the email. From Email is the address it comes from. Leave both empty to use the sender from the Email tab. Then click Save Digest Settings. It stores these four settings and nothing else. Step four. Preview the digest. Scroll to Actions and click Preview Digest. It builds the weekly digest for your own account, in a window. Nothing is sent. A digest holds the top topics by votes, new topics in the spaces the member follows, replies to their own topics, and one trending topic. A member only sees spaces they are allowed to read. Close the window. Send Test Daily and Send Test Weekly email a real digest to your own address at once. This tutorial does not click them. Step five. Check who gets it. Subscription Statistics counts accounts by their choice. Members choose No digest, Daily or Weekly in the notification settings of their Jetonomy profile. A daily or weekly choice replaces their single emails for replies to their topics and new topics in spaces they follow. The line No preference is everyone following your default. Two groups are left out of a run: members who turned community email off, and members with nothing new to read. Every digest ends with an Unsubscribe link that works in one click. Members who use it are counted on the line Unsubscribed. The last card, Cron Status, shows when the next daily digest and the next weekly digest will run. That is all five. Email Digest turned on, the default frequency chosen, the sender set, the digest previewed, and who gets it checked. Your quiet members now hear from the forum without having to visit.
