In this tutorial you will learn the three things that decide what a member can do in Jetonomy: a WordPress role, a trust level, and a space role. You need the free Jetonomy plugin, and an administrator account. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Open Users. Check the WordPress role. Check the trust level. Check the space role. Then find one member. Step one. Open Users. In your WordPress admin, open Jetonomy, then Users. Click the line at the top, How users, roles, and trust levels fit together. Community members are your WordPress users. There is no separate registration. A member appears in this list after their first signed-in visit to the community. Three separate layers decide what each person can do: a WordPress role, a trust level, and a space role. Step two. Check the WordPress role. Open Users, then All Users, in the WordPress menu. The Role column shows what each person is, such as Subscriber or Administrator. In Jetonomy, a role carries capabilities. Open Jetonomy, then Settings, then Permissions, and scroll to Role Capability Mapping. Tick a capability, such as Moderate, for a role, and everyone with that role gets it across the whole community. Administrators always hold every capability. Step three. Check the trust level. Back on Jetonomy Users, the Trust Level column shows where each member stands. There are six levels, from zero, Newcomer, to five. Members earn levels one to three by taking part. Levels four and five are set by hand. Levels four and five, Leader and Veteran, are ranks only. No trust level gives moderation powers. Those come from the Moderate capability of a role, or from a moderator role in a space. Step four. Check the space role. Open Jetonomy, then Spaces, click Edit under a space, and open its Members tab. Each member has a Role here. The four space roles are Viewer, Member, Moderator and Admin. They apply in this one space only, and never give access to the WordPress admin. Step five. Find one member. On Jetonomy Users, type a name in the search box and click Filter. You can also pick one trust level from the list beside it. Point at the member. View Profile opens their WordPress profile, where you change their role. Change Trust Level sets their level by hand. That is all five. Users opened, the WordPress role, the trust level, the space role, and one member found. You now know which of the three to change, and where. Next in this series: Set up your community on the General tab.
