How to search your community in Jetonomy, step by step: open Search, read the results, narrow them to topics, spaces or tags, filter by date, tag and author, and sort by relevance, newest or most voted.
Transcript
In this tutorial you will search a Jetonomy community, and narrow the results with filters. You need a site that runs the free Jetonomy plugin. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Open Search. Read the results. Narrow by kind. Open the filters. Then sort the results. Step one. Open Search. Click Search in the community bar. One box searches discussions, spaces and tags together. Type a word, at least two characters, and press Enter. Step two. Read the results. The count at the right says how many were found. Topics come first. Each topic shows its votes, its title, the author, the space it is in, how old it is, the first lines of its text, and the number of replies. Further down, matching tags are listed under Tags. Click one to see every topic that carries it. Step three. Narrow by kind. The pills above the results are All, Topics, Spaces and Tags. Click Topics, and only topics remain. The choice is part of the page address, so you can share the link. Step four. Open the filters. Click Filters, under the search box. Date from and Date to keep topics posted in a period. Tag keeps topics with one tag. Author keeps topics by one member, by name or username. You can combine them. Click Apply, and the results are narrowed, here from five to three. Clear removes the filters and keeps your search word. Step five. Sort the results. In the same Filters box, open Sort. Relevance, the starting choice, puts the closest match first. Newest puts the latest topics first, and Most voted puts the ones members rated highest first. Choose one and click Apply. That is all five. Search opened, the results read, narrowed by kind, filtered, and sorted. You can now find anything your community has discussed. Next in this series: Find topics by tag.
