In this tutorial you will set the SEO of a space in Jetonomy. You need Jetonomy Pro, with its SEO Pro extension turned on. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Turn on SEO Pro. Write the title and description. Pick the sharing image. Set the sitemap rules. Then hide a space from search engines. Step one. Turn on SEO Pro. In your WordPress admin, open Jetonomy, then Extensions, and find the card called SEO Pro. Turn its switch on. It is on already here, so this tutorial does not click it. Every space then gets a tab called SEO on its edit screen. Step two. Write the title and description. Open Jetonomy, then Spaces, click Edit under a space, and click the SEO tab. Meta Title Template sets the browser title of the space and of every topic in it. Build it from four placeholders, in curly brackets: post title, space name, site name and post excerpt. On the space page itself, post title is empty. Leave the box empty and titles stay as they are. Meta Description Template works the same way. Left empty, the space page uses the description of the space, and a topic uses its own first thirty words. Step three. Pick the sharing image. Open Graph Image is the picture shown when a link to this space, or to one of its topics, is shared. Paste an image address, or click Upload Image. Left empty, the space page uses the cover image of the space, and a topic uses the first picture in its text. Step four. Set the sitemap rules. Sitemap Priority tells search engines how much this space page matters next to your other pages. It starts on Auto, which is 0.7. The other choices run from 0.1 to 1.0. The topics in the space keep their own priority. Sitemap Change Frequency says how often the space changes. Auto works it out from recent activity. The others run from Always to Never. Exclude from Sitemap leaves this space out of the sitemap. Step five. Hide a space from search engines. Noindex this Space asks search engines not to list the space, or any topic in it. Nofollow this Space asks them not to follow the links there. Canonical URL Base is for a space that also lives at another address. It changes the canonical address of the space page. Topics keep their own. Then click Save SEO Settings. It stores every field on this tab, for this space only. This tutorial does not save. That is all five. SEO Pro turned on, the title and description written, the sharing image picked, the sitemap rules set, and a space hidden from search engines. Each space now tells search engines exactly what you want. Next in this series: Pin an announcement to every space.
