How to reward members with badges in Jetonomy, step by step: turn on the Custom Badges extension of Jetonomy Pro, name a badge, set the conditions that earn it, check the list of badges, and award one by hand.
Transcript
In this tutorial you will reward members with badges in Jetonomy. You need Jetonomy Pro, with its Custom Badges extension turned on, and an administrator account. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Turn on Custom Badges. Name the badge. Set how it is earned. Check your badges. Then award a badge by hand. Step one. Turn on Custom Badges. In your WordPress admin, open Jetonomy, then Extensions, and click Engagement to narrow the list. Turn on the switch of the card called Custom Badges. It is on already here. The Jetonomy menu then gains a new item, Badges. Step two. Name the badge. Open Jetonomy, then Badges. The form at the top is the Badge Builder. Type a Name, and a Description that tells members how to earn it. Pick an Icon from the set. Then choose a Tier, which is Bronze, Silver or Gold, and a Category to keep your badges in groups. Step three. Set how it is earned. In the Criteria Builder, each row is one condition: what to count, a comparison, and a number. You can count eight things: posts, replies, reputation, trust level, votes received, days active, accepted answers, and spaces joined. Add Condition gives you another row, and Match decides if a member needs all of them or any one. Reputation Bonus, above, is extra reputation handed over with the badge. Then click Save Badge. From then on Jetonomy checks members as they post, reply and get votes, and gives the badge to each one who qualifies, once. Step four. Check your badges. Under the form is the list, All Badges. Criteria shows the rule of each badge in short, and Earned By counts the members who hold it. A badge with no rule reads Manual award only. Jetonomy never gives it by itself. You award it by hand, as in the next step. Edit loads a badge back into the builder. Deactivate stops it being given and hides it, and keeps the record of who earned it. Step five. Award a badge by hand. Some badges are a judgment call. On the row of the badge, click Award. A box opens. Search for the member by username or email, pick them, and click Award Badge. The member is notified and receives the reputation bonus. Nobody is chosen in this tutorial. Once a member holds a badge, its row also has Revoke, which takes it back from one member the same way. That is all five. Custom Badges turned on, a badge named, its conditions set, the list checked, and a badge awarded by hand. Your members now have something to earn.
