In this tutorial you will add a poll to a topic in Jetonomy. You need Jetonomy Pro, with its Polls extension turned on. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Turn on the Polls extension. Build the poll. Vote in a poll. Vote for several options. Then close or delete a poll. Step one. Turn on the Polls extension. In your WordPress admin, open Jetonomy, then Extensions, and find the card called Polls. Turn its switch on. It acts at once. It is on already here, so this tutorial does not click it. Step two. Build the poll. Now sign in as a member, and start a new topic in a space. Under the editor there is a new button, Add Poll. Click it. Type the question, then one answer in each Options box. There are two boxes to start. Add option gives you another, up to twenty. Type has two choices. Single choice lets each member pick one answer. Multiple choice lets them pick several. Close date is optional. Leave it empty and the poll stays open. The poll is stored when you click Post Topic, and only if it has a question and two answers. A topic holds one poll. Step three. Vote in a poll. The poll sits under the topic. Every signed-in member who can reply in the space can vote. The bars and percentages are on show to everyone, before and after they vote. This is a single choice poll. Click an answer, here Thursday evening, and your vote counts at once. The count under the poll goes from eleven voters to twelve. Click another answer, and your vote moves to it. Each member has one vote here. To take your vote back, click Remove my vote, under the poll. It is back at eleven voters. Step four. Vote for several options. This poll is multiple choice. The line under it says when the poll closes. After that date nobody can vote. The two outlined answers are the ones this member chose earlier. Click another answer to add it, here Moderation basics. The percentages change, because they are shares of all the choices made. Click it again to take it away. Each answer is ticked and unticked on its own, so a member can change one answer and keep the rest. Step five. Close or delete a poll. Back in the WordPress admin, the extension adds Polls to the Jetonomy menu. Every poll is listed with its type, how many members voted, and whether it is Open or Closed. Close ends the voting now, after asking you to confirm. A closed poll keeps its results on the topic, and takes no more votes. Delete removes the poll and every vote on it for good. The topic itself stays. That is all five. The Polls extension turned on, a poll built, a vote in a single choice poll, several options in a multiple choice poll, and a poll closed or deleted. Your members can now answer a question in one click. Next in this series: Add custom fields to topics.
