In this tutorial you will add your Jetonomy community to the rest of your site. You need the free Jetonomy plugin, and an administrator account. The menu step is for a classic theme, one that has Appearance, then Menus. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Open the Community box in Menus. Add the links you want. Make it your front page. Add the Forum Feed block. Then see it as a visitor. Step one. Open the Community box in Menus. In your WordPress admin, open Appearance, then Menus. On the left, under Add menu items, Jetonomy adds a box called Community. Click its heading to open it. If the box is not there, open Screen Options at the top of the page and tick Community. Step two. Add the links you want. The box lists Community Home, Search, Leaderboard, Notifications and My Profile. My Profile takes each visitor to their own profile. Below them are your public spaces, by name, so a space can have its own menu link. Tick what you want, here Community Home. Then click Add to Menu, drag the new link into place, and click Save Menu. This tutorial stops before that, so the menu stays as it was. Step three. Make it your front page. Open Jetonomy, then Settings. On the General tab, find the row called Community as Homepage. Tick Show the community home on the site front page. Visitors who open your site address then land on the community. It takes precedence over the WordPress setting, Your homepage displays. Then click Save Settings, at the foot of the tab. This tutorial leaves it unsaved. And it unticks the box again, so the front page stays as it was. Step four. Add the Forum Feed block. To show recent topics on an ordinary page, open the page in the editor, click the Block Inserter, search for Forum Feed, and click it. In the sidebar, Count is how many topics to list, and Space I D limits them to one space. Sort has two choices: Latest and Top voted. Show header adds a heading above the list. Jetonomy has more blocks of this kind: Trending Topics, Space List and Leaderboard. Then click Save. This tutorial leaves the page as it was. Step five. See it as a visitor. Here is a page with the Forum Feed block, open without signing in. It lists the five newest topics, each with its author, space, votes and replies. A visitor only sees topics they are allowed to read. Topics from private spaces are left out. That is all five. The Community box opened, the links chosen, the front page option found, the Forum Feed block added, and the page seen as a visitor. Your community is now part of your site, not a corner of it. Next in this series: Approve requests to join a space.
