In this tutorial you will set up the emails your Jetonomy community sends to its members. You need the free Jetonomy plugin, and an administrator account. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Set the sender. Add your logo and footer. Choose which emails go out. Rewrite an email. Then test and save. Step one. Set the sender. In your WordPress admin, open Jetonomy, then Settings, then the Email tab. From Name is the name members see in their inbox. Type the name of your community. Left empty, emails use your site name, and the admin address of your site. Jetonomy sends through WordPress itself. If you use an SMTP plugin, community email goes through it too. Step two. Add your logo and footer. Paste the address of a logo image into Email Logo. Without one, emails show your site name as text. Further down, Footer Text is the line at the bottom of every notification email. Step three. Choose which emails go out. Notification Defaults lists every kind of notification, with two boxes. Web is the bell on your site. Email is a message to the inbox. Tick or untick a box to change what a member gets from the start. Here, an email for every vote on their post. These are starting points only. Each member can change them for themselves. Step four. Rewrite an email. Under Email Templates, every notification has a Subject and a Body field. Leave them empty to keep the built-in wording. Type your own subject. Words in curly brackets, such as site and message, are filled in when the email is sent. Click Preview beside a row to see that email with sample content. Step five. Test and save. Send Test Email, on the first card, sends one message to the admin address of your site, so you know mail is leaving. Each template row also has its own Send test button. Then click Save Settings at the bottom of the tab. Nothing on this page is stored until you do. That is all five. The sender set, a logo and footer added, the emails that go out chosen, an email rewritten, and the test and save buttons found. Your community now writes to members in your own name and words.
