In this tutorial you will create and edit a Jetonomy space from the front end of your site. You need the free Jetonomy plugin, and an administrator account. It takes about three minutes. There are six steps. Choose who can create spaces. Open Create space. Fill in the form. Edit a space. Know the Danger zone. Then see what a member sees. Step one. Choose who can create spaces. In your WordPress admin, open Jetonomy, then Settings. On the General tab, find Front-end space creation. Site administrators can always create spaces. Tick any other roles you trust, then click Save Settings. Step two. Now go to your community on the front end. If you are allowed to create spaces, the panel beside the page has a Create space link. Step three. Fill in the form. Type a Space title, and a short Description. Choose the Type. Forum, Q and A, Ideas or Feed. Set Visibility and Join policy, pick a Category and an Icon. A Hidden space must be Invite only. Then click Create space. The space is live at once, and you are its admin. Step four. Edit a space. Open the space. Its admins have an Edit space button at the top. It opens the same fields, already filled in, plus moderator approval for new posts, posts per page and topic prefixes. Change what you need, then click Save changes. Step five. Know the Danger zone, at the bottom of the same page. Archive and hand over keeps every topic and reply, archives the space, and passes it to another of its admins, or to a site administrator if it has no other admin. Delete this space permanently destroys everything in it, and cannot be undone. Space admins only get that choice if the site owner allows it in Settings. Step six. Now see what an ordinary member sees. Diego is a member of this space, with no role in it. He has no Edit space button, and no Create space link in his panel. That is all six. Who can create spaces chosen, Create space opened, the form filled in, a space edited, the Danger zone explained, and a member's view checked. Your trusted members can now run their own spaces. Next in this series: Vote on topics and replies.
