Transcript
In this tutorial you will see what is trending in a Jetonomy community, and put a trending list on a page. You need the free Jetonomy plugin, and an administrator account for the block. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Find the Trending card. See it inside a space. Add the Trending Topics block. Set the count, space and window. Then see the list on a page. Step one. Find the Trending card. On the community home, the sidebar has a card called Trending. It lists five topics. These are the topics with the most votes, from every space you can see. On a tie, more replies wins. Both numbers are under each title. Click a title to open the topic. The card is refreshed every five minutes, so a new vote can take a moment to show. Step two. See it inside a space. Open a space, here Help Desk. The same card is in the sidebar. Inside a space, it lists the most voted topics of that space only. Step three. Add the Trending Topics block. As the site owner, open any page in the editor and click the Block Inserter, the plus button at the top left. Search for Trending Topics, and click it in the results. In the editor the block is a placeholder card. The real list is printed on the page itself. Step four. Set the count, space and window. Select the block, and its settings are in the sidebar. Count is how many topics to list. It starts at five. Space I D limits the list to one space. Leave it empty for the whole community. Window, in days, is how far back the block looks. It starts at seven. Type fourteen, and topics from the last two weeks can appear. Show header keeps or hides the heading. Then click Save, at the top right. This tutorial leaves the page as it was. Step five. See the list on a page. Here is a page with the block, opened without signing in. The topics are numbered. This list is ranked differently from the sidebar card. Only topics started inside the window count. A reply adds twice as much as a vote, and a newer topic beats an older one with the same numbers. Visitors only see topics they are allowed to read. That is all five. The Trending card found, the card inside a space, the Trending Topics block added, its count, space and window set, and the list seen on a page. Your members can now see what the community is talking about, wherever you choose to show it. Next in this series: See a member's forum activity.
