How to let members post anonymously in Jetonomy, step by step: turn on the Anonymous Posting extension of Jetonomy Pro, allow it in a space, post a topic or reply without your name, see what other members see, and reveal an author as an administrator.
Transcript
In this tutorial you will let members post anonymously in Jetonomy. You need Jetonomy Pro, with its Anonymous Posting extension turned on, and an administrator account. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Turn on Anonymous Posting. Allow it in a space. Post without your name. See what others see. Then reveal an author. Step one. Turn on Anonymous Posting. In your WordPress admin, open Jetonomy, then Extensions, and click Privacy to narrow the list. Turn on the switch of the card called Anonymous Posting. It is on already here. This is the switch for the whole site, and on its own it changes nothing. Each space has to allow it too. Step two. Allow it in a space. Open Jetonomy, then Spaces, click Edit on the space, and open its new tab, Anonymous. This space is Community Guidelines. Tick Allow anonymous posts in this space, then click Save. It is ticked here already. Do this only for the spaces that need it, such as support or feedback. Every other space stays as it was. Step three. Post without your name. A signed-in member who starts a topic in that space now has a box under the text, Post anonymously. It is unticked every time, so the member chooses for each topic. A reply has the same choice. In the toolbar of the reply box, the mask button on the right means Reply anonymously. It is tinted while it is on. Step four. See what others see. This topic was posted anonymously. Where the name and picture would be, there is a plain outline and the word Anonymous, with no link to a profile. The first reply is anonymous as well. The second was posted the normal way, so it carries its author. Everyone sees it like this on the community pages, and Jetonomy still keeps the real author on record. Step five. Reveal an author. An administrator sees Anonymous too, plus one more button under the post, Reveal author. Moderators of a space do not get it. Click it and the button shows the name, to you alone. Every reveal is written to the Activity Log with who looked and when, so keep it for cases of abuse. This tutorial does not click it. That is all five. Anonymous Posting turned on, allowed in a space, used on a topic and a reply, seen as others see it, and the reveal button found. Members can now ask the hard questions without their name on them.
