Transcript

In this tutorial you will let members attach files to their posts in Jetonomy. You need Jetonomy Pro, with its File Attachments extension turned on, and an administrator account. It takes about three minutes. There are four steps. Turn on File Attachments. Choose types and limits. Attach files to a post. Then open an attached file. Step one. Turn on File Attachments. In your WordPress admin, open Jetonomy, then Extensions, and click Content to narrow the list. Turn on the switch of the card called File Attachments. It is on already here, so this tutorial does not click it. Step two. Choose types and limits. Open Jetonomy, then Settings, and click Attachments, under Advanced. Allowed file types has two groups. Images, and Documents, from PDF to CSV. Untick any type you do not want. Below are two limits. Max file size starts at ten megabytes for each file, and cannot go above what your server accepts. Max files per post or reply starts at five. Then click Save Attachment Settings. Every file is checked against these rules again on the server when it arrives. Step three. Attach files to a post. Any member who can post now has a button under the text of a new topic, Attach files. Click it and pick files from your device. Each one uploads straight away and is listed under the button. A reply can carry files too. In the toolbar of the reply box, the paperclip is the same Attach files button. Nothing is picked in this tutorial. Step four. Open an attached file. Under the post, each file is a card. A picture is shown small. Click it to see it large without leaving the page. A PDF card gives the name, the number of pages and the size. Click Open viewer and it opens on the page. Next and Prev turn the pages, plus and minus zoom, and Open in new tab hands the file to the browser. Any other document, like this spreadsheet, is a card with its name, type and size. A click on it downloads the file. That is all four. File Attachments turned on, the types and limits chosen, the attach buttons found, and an attached file opened. Members can now back up a post with the file itself. Next in this series: Reward members with badges.
