Transcript

In this tutorial you will add reactions to posts in Jetonomy. You need Jetonomy Pro, with its Reactions extension turned on. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Turn on the Reactions extension. React to a post. Swap to another reaction. Choose which reactions are offered. Then know who can react. Step one. Turn on the Reactions extension. In your WordPress admin, open Jetonomy, then Extensions. Each Pro feature is a card with a switch. Click Engagement to narrow the list. Find Reactions and turn its switch on. The switch acts as soon as you click it. It is already on here, so this tutorial does not click it. Step two. React to a post. Now sign in as a member and open a topic. Under the post is the React button. The chips beside it are the reactions already given, each with its count. Click React. A row of eight opens: Like, Love, Haha, Celebrate, Thinking, Watching, Rocket and Dislike. Click one. Here, Love. Its count goes from three to four, and the chip is tinted to show it is yours. The author of a post is notified once, at its first reaction only. To take a reaction back, click your own chip. Love is back at three. Step three. Swap to another reaction. A member holds one reaction on a post at a time. React with Love again, then open React once more. Pick Rocket. It replaces Love, it is not added to it. Love is at three again, and Rocket goes from one to two. Click your chip to remove it, as before. Every reply has its own React button and its own counts. Step four. Choose which reactions are offered. Back in the WordPress admin, open Jetonomy, then Settings, and click Reactions, under Advanced in the settings menu. It is there only while the extension is on. There is one box per reaction, each with its name, from Like to Dislike. Untick a box, here Dislike, and members are no longer offered it. The list is for the whole site, not per space. Reactions already given stay on their posts, with their counts. Then click Save Reaction Settings, which stores this list and nothing else. Untick all eight, and Like is kept. This tutorial does not save. Step five. Know who can react. Reacting uses the capability called Vote, the same one that lets a member vote. On the Permissions tab, find it in the table of capabilities by role. The five WordPress roles hold Vote from the start, Subscriber included. A role added by another plugin, such as Customer, starts with no box ticked. A visitor who is not signed in sees the counts, and is sent to sign in on a click. That is all five. The Reactions extension turned on, a reaction given and taken back, one swapped for another, the list of reactions chosen, and who can react. Your members can now answer a post with one click. Next in this series: Turn on a Pro extension.
