In this tutorial you will set up topic prefixes for a Jetonomy space, and see how a member posts a private topic. You need the free Jetonomy plugin, and an administrator account. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Open Topic Prefixes. Add your prefixes. Pick a prefix as a member. See prefixes in the space. Then post a private topic. Step one. In your WordPress admin, open Jetonomy, then Spaces. Click Edit under a space, and open its Settings tab. Topic Prefixes is the last row. Tick Enable topic prefixes for this space. Each space has its own set. Step two. Add your prefixes. Each one is a short label and a colour. This space has three: Bug, Question and Solved. Click Add Prefix for a new row, type the label, and pick its colour. The cross at the end of a row removes it. Then click Save Settings. Step three. Now sign in as a member. When Diego starts a topic in that space, the form has a Prefix list. It offers None, Bug, Question and Solved. A topic takes one prefix, or none. It is always optional. Step four. See prefixes in the space. Each one shows in its colour, in front of the topic title. The same label shows at the top of the topic page. A prefix is a label only. Clicking it does not filter the list. Step five. Post a private topic. Every new topic form has a Private box, under the content. There is no setting to turn it on. Tick it before you post. Only you and the moderators can then see the topic. Other members do not find it in the space. Use it for an account detail or a report you do not want in public. Then click Post Question, as usual. That is all five. Topic Prefixes opened, prefixes added, a prefix picked as a member, prefixes seen in the space, and a private topic explained. Your topics are now labelled, and private when they need to be. Next in this series: Format a post and mention a member.
