Membership & Monetization Free

Community plus monetization, on one WordPress install

A member's access to a discussion space follows their subscription, course enrolment, or membership automatically. Jetonomy connects the membership plugins you already run to its permission engine, so paying members land in the right spaces the moment they pay.

Jetonomy · Membership & Monetization
  • Access Rules gate a space by membership level, subscription, or course enrolment
  • Free ships the MemberPress and Paid Memberships Pro adapters, with no Pro needed to gate by them
  • Pro adds WooCommerce, Restrict Content Pro, LearnDash, and Tutor LMS adapters
  • Members auto-join a gated space on activation and auto-leave when the membership expires or cancels

The problem

You want a paid community, so you bolt a forum onto a membership plugin and then police access by hand. Someone subscribes and waits for an invite; someone cancels and keeps posting for weeks. Access and payment drift apart.

  • Rules stack, so one space can grant access on a membership OR a product OR a course

One permission engine, every membership plugin

Jetonomy treats “who has paid” as an input to its own access system rather than a problem you solve by hand. External membership, subscription, and LMS plugins connect to Jetonomy’s Access Rules, and from there a member’s presence in a discussion space follows their entitlement automatically.

The flow is the same across every integration. You open a space, add an Access Rule, choose the membership level or product or course that unlocks it, and choose what a matching member can do (Read, Participate, or Full) and what role they hold in that space. Members who match the rule are in; members who do not see the space as locked or hidden, depending on its visibility. It is the same walkthrough whether you are gating by MemberPress or by a LearnDash course.

Free where it counts, Pro where it scales

The MemberPress and Paid Memberships Pro adapters ship in the free plugin. If you run a paid community on either of those, you can gate spaces by membership level today without buying Jetonomy Pro. That is the “community plus monetization on one install” promise made concrete: the two most common WordPress membership plugins gate Jetonomy spaces for free.

Jetonomy Pro widens the set. It adds adapters for WooCommerce (Memberships plans and Subscription products), Restrict Content Pro, LearnDash, and Tutor LMS, so a store can turn a subscription into community access and a course platform can drop each cohort into its own space on enrolment. Every adapter is detected automatically when its plugin is active, so there is no connection to wire up by hand.

Access that stays in sync

The point of gating is that it keeps working without you. When a membership activates, Jetonomy adds the member to the spaces that grant that level and welcomes them. When it expires, cancels, or is paused, Jetonomy removes them from spaces gated only to that level, while leaving everything they wrote in place. For WooCommerce, access tracks the membership or subscription status rather than a raw order, so a subscription going on-hold revokes access and a refunded one-off order on its own does not.

Because rules stack, you are never boxed into a single funnel. Gate a premium space to a MemberPress VIP level OR a specific WooCommerce product OR a course, and anyone who qualifies through any path is added automatically. Access and payment stop drifting apart, because they are driven by the same events.

Common questions

Which membership plugins can gate access for free?

MemberPress and Paid Memberships Pro. Both adapters ship in the free Jetonomy plugin, so you can gate spaces by a MemberPress level or a PMPro subscription level without Jetonomy Pro. WooCommerce, Restrict Content Pro, LearnDash, and Tutor LMS gating require Pro.

How does a member get in and out of a gated space?

Automatically. When a membership activates, Jetonomy adds the member to any space whose Access Rules grant that level and sends a welcome notification. When it expires, cancels, or is paused, Jetonomy removes them from spaces gated exclusively to that level, and their posts and replies stay intact.

Can one space accept more than one way in?

Yes. Access Rules from different integrations stack. A single space can grant access to a MemberPress level OR a specific WooCommerce product OR a LearnDash course, and a member who matches any one rule gets in.

Do I need a separate community platform to charge for access?

No. Jetonomy is the community and the gate on the same WordPress install. Your existing membership, subscription, or LMS plugin decides who has paid or enrolled, and Jetonomy's permission engine turns that into space access, so you are not paying for and syncing a second hosted platform.
