In this tutorial you will use Jetonomy together with BuddyNext. You need Jetonomy and BuddyNext, both free and both active. There is nothing to switch on in Jetonomy. It takes about three minutes. There are five steps. Check the two are connected. Find topics in the activity feed. Open a profile from the forum. Reach the forum from a space. Then set forum notifications. Step one. Check the two are connected. In your WordPress admin, open Jetonomy, then Settings, then Integrations, and find the card for BuddyNext. It reads Connected. That is all the setup there is. When both plugins are active they find each other, and the rest of this tutorial is what you get. Step two. Find topics in the activity feed. This is the BuddyNext activity feed, seen as a member. Among the posts is a card marked Discussion. It is a topic from the forum. A new topic in a public space is added to the feed like this, with its title and its first lines. Click the title to open the topic in the forum. Step three. Open a profile from the forum. Here is that topic in Jetonomy. The name beside it is a link. Click it. It opens the BuddyNext profile of that member, not a second forum profile. Each member has one profile for the whole community. Step four. Reach the forum from a space. A BuddyNext space can carry its own forum. When the owner of a space turns its discussion on, the space gets a tab, Discussions. The tab lists the topics of that forum. Open in Community takes the member into Jetonomy to post or reply. Step five. Set forum notifications. Members choose their notifications in one place too. In BuddyNext, open Settings, then Notifications, and scroll to the group called Forums. Each row is one kind of forum notification, with its own switch. A switch stores the moment it is clicked, so none is clicked here. That is all five. The connection checked, a topic found in the feed, a profile opened from the forum, the forum reached from a space, and forum notifications found. Your forum and your social network now work as one community. Next in this series: Open a space to Learnomy students.
